Addiction

I almost made it out
But at the last second my lungs gave up
My hand slipped and I fell backwards
All the way to the bottom
And now I slowly drown

To them I am a hero
To me they are the villain
I am nothing but a victim
To all those voices in my head
And those dark thoughts
That somehow turned pain into an addiction

I feel trapped in a single room
No windows for fresh air
All lights are off above my head
No breeze passes by in here
The doors are locked and metallic
I feel chained to the ceiling
Hands crawling up and down
Whispers of courage in my ears
“You’re doing a good job ruining yourself”
I need someone to scream out my name
Stop this absurd motivation
And break the chains around my neck
Because the longer it lasts
The more I’ll get used to the suffocation

I need to get off this treadmill
No matter how much I run, I never reach
I try to swim up and stop from drowning
But the second I reach for air
The roots in the ground pull me back in
I need to stop this room from spinning
Slowly losing the concept of getting dizzy
Please someone show me the route for escaping
I want to run away and become clean
I need to be clean
I have to be clean

Stare into nothing
I’m losing my consciousness
Skin is slowly peeling
I’m losing touch with myself
Slowly turning into an experiment
I’m more of a number than a human
Stare into the thin air
And slowly disappear
I’m…
