Couldn’t You Tell?

You said you wanted to turn this into a fun game
You said you thought I would love to play
You swore you weren’t aware of my age
But couldn’t you tell by the height difference or the clothes I used to wear

If your mission was to ruin me for good
Well done you were successful
If your goal was to tear my scarlet t-shirt
Good job you performed so well
I was nothing but a young girl
But you didn’t take that into measure

You picked the eraser off my desk
Slowly wiped my smile off my face
Made sure to erase my mouth and my lips
But keep the eyes so I could witness it
You took the mold off my game kit
And changed me like a dough play set
You swore you didn’t know my age
But couldn’t you tell by the way I used to talk
Or the tv shows I used to watch

You ran off to somewhere else
Once I was old enough to tear your hands away
I still have your claw marks on my skin
From when I was just a kid
You thought I would stay young forever
And wouldn’t ever grow a muscle to speak
Now that you are in danger
You changed all of your tactics
But I still haven’t forgotten
How you broke into my dollhouse
Ripped them off my hands one by one
Each had a red stain on them
Similar the ones on my bed sheets
The ones which you told me to wash them in secret
And never yell your name but to whisper them quietly

You started to become afraid
The second you saw how much I’ve gotten taller
Now that my bones have grown back
You have dropped both of your hands
You swear you didn’t know my age
But couldn’t you tell by the fear on my face
And the confusion in my eyes
And how I didn’t want to let go of my favorite doll bear?
