Hunting Season

The 30-30 trap is the most sought after
Steel-jawed
It held onto me.
A doe grunt escapes
Carrion
Your lust has frozen over the lake that holds the arrow to my skull
Sagging skin and eyes hold a vacancy
Wet nosed
Held as the prize
I have no antlers to hold
So you cusp my face instead
I am heavy
The weight of my competition is unbearable.
Not saved to eat
Simply just a reward
Cradle those fallen limbs one last time.
