Power Builds Walls, But Love Builds Home

by An Anonymous Writer

I said I wanted power.

I said I wanted money.

I dreamed of being untouchable,

so high no one could ever leave me.

Power builds walls—

and I thought the walls were safe.

But here is the truth:

I don’t need a hundred friends.

I don’t need crowds chanting my name.

I just want to be happy.

A few people,

the kind I can breathe around.

Someone to love.

Someone who loves me.

And I will love anyone who loves me—

fully, fiercely, without condition.

Not the world,

just a handful.

Not endless faces,

just a few that feel like home.

If God asked me to choose,

I would give up the gold,

the power,

the luxuries—

all of it.

Let the crowns fall,

let the riches burn.

If it meant I could keep those bonds,

if it meant I could wake to love

instead of silence—

I’d trade everything.

Because power builds walls.

But love builds home.
