Where Am I Meant To Leave It?

I wish I had more
happy memories,
sometimes;
but memory lane
remembers the bad
along with the
good—
I can remember
picking blackberries
with mama in the
summer sun,
and indoor picnics
where we'd watch
movies together;
or going to Allegheny
national forest
in autumn—
but it can also remember
all the tears, all of the
bullying, all of the cruelty;
every bad thing which
still cuts like a knife—
they say let the past go,
but it always follows;
Where am I meant to leave it?
