Winter Hums

by Anousha

(Image 1 of 3)

I roll over to the apricity, blazing my eyes.

I endeavour to take hold of the cascading snow, so high.

It is as though I am layered in frost, enclosing my sight,

Or a solemn swan, excluding my other half,

Striding in a pond less glittered, not so bright.

As the snow etches the branches,

Without you, its pigment loses light.

Strands of my hair, emblazoned with the fallen snow,

The shadows surround the warmth of which I know.

I glide within the slippery path; my skin glistens.

I yearn for your voice,

Hearing your whispers trace the wintry breeze, I listen.

The sea, gelid, yet beneath it shivers as it hums.

Fingers sunk in the holes of my sweater, its fur runs.

You are my lullaby, soft yet distinct.

You are a serenade that defrosts each icicle once interlinked.

The hiemal surroundings, contrasting with my once broken heart,

Now extinct.

Each star, hazy from the fallen snow,

My silhouette disappears as dim lights glow.

My silken hair reflects glimmering ice,

Heaving through the dragging wind so slow.

The awakened sun soothes me with its warmth,

Cherishing me, that I know.
